Vito Di Bari is an acclaimed futurologist and authority on innovation. He makes use of scientific methods and keen insight to identify existing trends in technology and communications, and uses them to engineer creative solutions for the present and future with universal applications.
He has been selected as the Innovation Designer for the Milan 2015 Universal EXPO, in which he will feature his designs for a city of the near future in which digital and physical architecture are intertwined, and every-day life is transformed by Vito’s innovative solutions for the future.
Vito’s imagined futuristic inventions, such as smart-homes, automated traffic information systems, virtual alter-egos, maxi-holographic projections, cars that monitor for wakefulness, micro-skin that alerts in the case of an emergency, are based on existing technologies, and featured in his widely-discussed book “The Future is Already Here (But We Don’t Know It Yet)”.
He is recognized worldwide for his numerous innovative theories, and multitude of published works, which most recently include “Short Circuit” (2009); "Web 2.0" (2007); "The Future is Already Here (but we don’t know it yet)" (2006); "2015, Weekend in the future" (2005); "Strategies for the Next Economy" (2003); "The Digital Economy Encyclopedia" (2002); "Key Words for the Net Economy" (2001); "Multimedia Management" (2000), which require his representation by Celebrity Speakers Associates to manage the 25-30 yearly conventions for which he is invited to be a chairman or featured speaker.
He lends his expertise on communication and technology, particularly that which is web-based, to create innovative business solutions that apply across industries, having most recently worked on communications projects with Universal Studios, SKY, MTV, Coca Cola, Bang&Olufsen, Council of Europe, Kodak, Barilla, Zurich, Sector, and Movenpick, and by presiding over the Scientific Committee of ASCAI : the Italian Association for the development of Corporate Communication, whose members are the biggest Italian companies, and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Accenture Foundation, the Scientific Committee of Harvard Business Review Italy, and the Executive Board of the Industrial Italian Districts Association.
Vito has already taken strides towards ensuring the legacy of his innovation, having founded Lab Next, a research laboratory for innovation consisting of numerous Italian and foreign professors and researchers, of which he is currently Scientific Director of, and working currently as a professor of "Design and Management of Innovation" at the Faculty of System Engineering of the Polytecnic University of Milan and at the Bocconi University, and previously as professor of “New Media theories and techniques” at the Communication Science and Technology Faculty of the IULM University of Milan, “Multimedia Innovation Management” at the Computer Science Faculty of the Polytecnic University of Milan and “Design and Management of Multimedia Systems” at the Design Faculty of the Polytecnic University of Milan, and as Scientific Director of the Master’s of Science in “Marketing, Communication and New Technologies” at the Business School of the Il Sole 24 Ore.
His unique perspective and foresight transcends topics such as business and technology to include those such as the body, health, and beauty, leisure, and relationships, and our natural and urban habitat, areas of interest he addresses as a weekly columnist for the Italian newspaper "Il Sole 24 Ore," and as TV host for Discovery Channel, as well as other media engagements, such as speaker on Fashion & Technology talk show about the ways in which technology can be used to improve the fashion industry to better meet the challenges of the consumer fashion industry.
His creativity stems from a background in multi-media, having worked for many years as Executive Director at the International Multimedia Institute of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), Executive Vice-President of SPN (Satellite Program Network), the first American satellite television network (New York, NY), Executive Director of the International Multimedia Institute of the UNESCO (Paris) and Italian Member of the Fiction Financing Committee Euro-Aim MEDIA within the Council of Europe (Bruxelles), Managing Director of Multimedia Inc. (New York, NY) and CEO of DB Usa Inc. (Beverly Hills, CA), Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Institute for Opera and Poetry of the UNESCO (Paris) and Chairman of the Arts & Communication International Fellowship of the Rotary International (Evanston, Illinois).
