Honda, the Japanese Motor Company, Develops U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype

The Japanese car manufacturer, Honda, has developed a personal mobility vehicle called U3-X. The vehicle, which resembles a futuristic unicycle, provides the rider with the freedom of movement in any direction by simply leaning slightly in the desired direction. The one-wheeled device is lightweight and features a foldable seat and retractable footrests. U3-X is powered by a lithium ion battery, which provides power for up to one hour of use and can be recharged with a power outlet. It also uses an advanced proprietary balance-control system, and was intended to be user-friendly and pedestrian-friendly, while improving human mobility through technology.
