The Swedish company Minesto offers a solution to the worldwide energy demand with their new concept for tidal power plants called Deep Green. These sea kites are able to capture tidal energy at ten times the speed of the water in which it operates. Deep Green consists of a 3-foot-lon turbine attached to a rudder and a 39-footwingspan, which is tethered to the floor with a 330-foot cable. Tidal power offers a non-polluting and sustainable source of energy.

RavenBrick, a clean tech company in Denver, Colorado, has developed a smart film that when applied to a window can vary its tint based on the outside temperature. The product, named RavenWindow, automatically adapts to the outside temperature to reduce the need for air conditioning and heat. The thermo-reflective film, which uses nanotechnology to transition from a transparent to a reflective state, is expected to reduce energy consumption in buildings by 40 percent.

Intelligent Energy, a leading clean power systems company, is working on clean fuel cell power systems that will offer an alternative to fossil fuels. Teaming up with Seymourpowell Product Design Consultancy the pair developed ENV, an eco-friendly motorcycle that is fueled by hydrogen. With a top speed of 50 mph and capable of traveling 100 miles per tank, ENV emits only pure water vapor. Intelligent Energy’s CORE fuel cell technology that is used to power ENV is advanced enough to also power a small property.

CODA Development, a company in the Czech Republic, has developed a self inflating tire that can inflate a tire while it is in use, allowing for safer driving. Not only does a self inflating tire could ensure safer driving, but it also has some other advantages such as energy efficiency. According to CODA Development’s estimation, 1.24 billion gallons of fuel per year could be saved by proper tire pressure in the United States alone.

What exactly is a Dome Home? In an interview with Planet Green TV, architect and designer, Dennis Odin Johnson, reshapes our idea of a home. Located in North Branch, Minnesota, Bear Creek Dome is “energy efficient and gives you the most amount of space for the least amount of material”. For more than 30 years, Natural Spaces Domes has been building “green” dome homes that provide both the comfort of a normal home, as well as the satisfaction of helping keep the earth clean.
Bear Creek Dome, beyond having a unique shape, is more functional than a normal box home. Based on the geodesic dome, made popular in the 1950′s, Bear Creek Dome is 49-feet in diameter, and the spherical design of the home provides enough strength to withstand earthquakes and 200 mph winds. The Dome Homes are cleaner and healthier for the environment and humans alike. The dome shape uses 60% less structural material than a box home. Homes made by Natural Spaces are energy efficient, and all of the building materials used are as natural as possible. Dome homes are also healthier for families, as the panels are toxin and draft-free.
Best of all, Johnson points out that people don’t have to give up any comforts or luxuries that come with living in a normal home. Bear Creek Dome is actually quite spacious despite its appearance. The Dome has enough room for multiple bedrooms, a large kitchen, living room, dining room, office, and an entertainment area.
Nowadays, people are readily choosing to drive environmentally friendly vehicles, and wear “green” clothing, so it’s seem natural for eco-friendly homes to be the next step. We would be giving up little, if anything, if all new homes were built in this fashion, plus we would be ensuring that something is being done to preserve our environment for future generations to come. Dennis’ philosophy is rather revolutionary: if we invest in a greener existence today, we will live better tomorrow.

At 38, Telsa Motor’s CEO and Product Architect, Elon Musk, has already lived a life most people can only dream of. Co-founder of PayPal, Space-X, and Telsa Motors, Musk is one of the most fascinating entrepreneurs in the world. He is currently the CEO of Space-X and Telsa Motors, as well as Chairman of SolarCity. All of Musk’s ventures are on the cutting edge of their respective fields. Telsa Motors created an electric sports car, the Roadster, which is 100% electric, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Unlike some multi-millionaires who retire early on remote tropical islands, Elon Musk isn’t planning on stopping anytime soon. With his background in physics, his ingenuity, and his eye for innovation, it is no wonder he has accomplished so much. With an already accumulated fortune of over $328 million, Musk always has an eye on the future, and sees space exploration as playing a crucial role in the future preservation of human life. His position at Telsa Motors has allowed him to influence the world and change the way we look at our current mode of transportation. Elon does not only address the issue of being environmentally friendly, which is currently one of the main priorities in every society, but also luxury and speed. The result? Musk has the car industry elegance, speed, performance, and efficiency. He has shown the world that you can still save our planet without having to give anything up.
