The Art of Niemeyer— The Eye Museum
A building that is shaped like an eye is meant to stand out. Innovative architecture and bold colors are what make up the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, or better known as the “Eye” Museum. Located in Curitiba, Brazil the contemporary art found in Oscar Niemeyer’s unique designs are representative of Brazil’s culture. This can be seen with intricate curves and bright colors in the designs of the two buildings found in the museum.
One of the buildings of this museum is shaped like an eye which gives the Oscar Niemeyer museum its nickname of “The Eye Museum.” The museum has all sorts of signature designs. The Niemeyer style is known for its large curves and white cement that contrasts with vivid colored murals. Around the museum, you will also find a body of water, light manipulations, and beautiful geometric forms. These different design forms as a whole can bring any cultural center, like a museum, to life.
